“Tis The Season”
By Pete Smith
Ready or not, it’s that time of the year again. Tis the season for all things that come along with the Holidays. The season for life to be more than it already is. The famous Christmas Carol says: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” “Wonderful” is a great word; I like it when things are wonderful! However, it’s just one word of many that describes only one emotion subject to surface this time of the year. The keyword in the song might be “MOST.” It could say, “It’s the “most time of the year.”
This season is definitely a “most” time of the year. This is the season for life to be more than it already is. All the feelings and emotions are stirred up during the Holidays, and all experiences are intensified. It can be the happiest or the saddest of times. We either generously give or hold onto what we have tighter. Joy can be at an all-time high, or depression can be at an all-time low. We all become like Jesus, Santa, or the Scrooge to the most. We love or hate Holidays. To be alone either excites us or concerns us. Faith increases, or disbelief manifests. Isolation calls our names, or we stay surrounded by lots of people.
What will this season hold for you? Is there anything you can do to create the season you want? There are so many things that we cannot control. It is easy to get so immersed in the uncontrollable that we forget that we can make the most out of every situation. Growing up, my father always said under challenging situations, “Let’s make the MOST of it.” Everyone has free will and a choice to live the life we want. You can’t change the past, but you can write your next chapter. It’s a great season to plan your MOST Wonderful time of the year!
Let’s Make the most out of it! Be most grateful for the everyday things that get taken for granted. Give most of your attention to the special relationships in your life! Have the most patience with others. Take every opportunity to make the most out of every occasion. Give the most you can to make something great happen for someone else.
You might find yourself singing Christmas songs driving down the road: “It’s the Most Wonderful time of the year!”
